I have been very inspired by biohacking, which is a means for optimising my health and well being.
And as someone who is obsessed with data and numbers, I have been tracking my health metrics with a passion.
So, recently, I logged my data into my Second Brain:
Building my ‘Second Brain’ using Logseq – Amer’s Corner on the Interwebs
- BP: 120/82
- Glucose:
- Fasting: 101 mg/dL
- Post-prandial: 117 mg/dL
- Weight: 91.3 kg
- Waist: 105 cm
- Hip: 107 cm
- Waist/Hip: 0.98
Using data to track the exact condition of health is very efficient. You don’t have to rely on people’s or your own unreliable perceptions, like “Oh! You look thin today”, “You look fat today.” That is not very scientific and can be affected by various biases.
This method has been working quite well for me. I am able to see precise changes in these metrics.
Calories tracking worked the best for me to lose fat.
Additionally, I have been tracking:
- Macronutrient and calories intake using HealthifyMe app
- Triglycerides, HDL, LDL and total cholesterol through lipid profile test (done infrequently)
I also plan to track:
- Body fat percentage (Calculator)
- BMI
Take Action
As a psychologist, I can tell you that when you give exact data to your brain as feedback, it will start bringing about such great changes that you will be shocked!
Start by tracking simple metrics like body weight and waist and calories tracking as the next step.
