Awesome day, new antenna, new ham contacts

Yesterday was so awesome!

I received my new Yagi antenna a few days ago. Since then, I had been trying to make radio contacts through satellites, but I was unsuccessful. But, yesterday, I went to the terrace, with my friend Abdul Jawad and tried my luck with ISS repeater. To my great, pleasant surprise, I was able to make 3 contacts, with VU2AAP, VU2MZT and VU2YFD, all part of the same ham community.

Ham radio is a difficult, but rewarding hobby. I had been trying since multiple days, but there was something going wrong. I still don’t know what exactly. But, this is how the hobby is. The thing to focus on, is the huge satisfaction we get after getting success and the continuous learning.

While making a satellite contact, there are so many things to manage: azimuth, elevation, frequency & doppler correction, polarisation adjustment, callsigns, etc.

It is a difficult and sometimes expensive hobby. But, is worthwhile. If you are interested, do give it a try.
